Ethan Bakuli is an award-winning freelance journalist based in Detroit, chronicling the ways marginalized communities resist and respond to budget cuts, economic inequality, and man-made environmental disaster.

He currently works part-time for Planet Detroit, reporting on community solutions to climate and public health issues in the Metro Detroit region.

Before that, Ethan covered city schools as an education reporter for Chalkbeat Detroit, and a general assignment reporter for the Burlington Free Press in Vermont, reporting on shifting demographics.

His work has appeared in USA Today, Chalkbeat, Capital & Main, and other local/national publications.
